Job Description |

|
We are looking for a solid, senior level, Mechanical Engineer with a strong theoretical and analytical background as well as experience in high-speed mechanism design. The person must be willing to roll up their sleeves and be hands-on in addition to being a big picture thinker and project manager.
The Mechanical Design Engineer designs and analyzes mechanical systems in high speed equipment; conducts feasibility studies and testing on both new and modified designs; directs support personnel in the preparation of detailed design, design testing and prototype fabrication; and provides design information to drafting personnel for creating documentation for product release.
This senior level position will resolve complex issues, requiring an in-depth evaluation of variable factors, in creative and effective ways; exercise judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results; and provide guidance/mentoring to other associates.
The position is located in Durham, NC.

Requirements |
 |
Requirements include: - Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (MS degree preferred) with 10+ years of progressive experience in the design, development, and release of complex, automated, machinery (or equivalent combination of education and experience);
- Thorough knowledge of technical writing, and software/ hardware components and concepts;
- Experience managing and leading projects and teams;
- Ability to convey technical concepts in an easily understood manner, both verbally and in writing; clear and concise verbal and written communications;
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions;
- Strong mechanical aptitude and creative ability; self-motivated; ability to work under general supervision;
- Strong team and interpersonal skills; ability to motivate and negotiate consensus
- Knowledge of and experience with CAD systems (Unigraphics preferred) and test equipment (high speed cameras, data acquisition systems); and
- Strong computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Project, etc.)
