Job Description
Department of Mechanical Engineering
Faculty of Engineering
Vacancy Number: 11479

The University of Auckland is seeking an outstanding candidate for appointment to a Chair in Mechatronics Engineering. The Mechatronics Engineering Degree which was introduced in 2002 attracts very high calibre students with approximately 50 graduating each year.

The Mechatronics research group comprises four full time academic staff and several affiliates and has developed internationally successful research programmes in the fields of industrial robotics, medical and rehabilitation robotics and smart materials. This dynamic group has strong collaborations within the University, with national and international research groups, and throughout industry. The Professor of Mechatronics Engineering will provide leadership and a clear vision for the future of this vibrant research group, with a view to capitalising on existing successes while developing new opportunities. The University strategic objectives and Faculty’s research themes of health care technology and advanced materials and manufacturing will provide foci for this research growth, but it is anticipated that inspired direction and management will take this already flourishing group to higher levels of international research achievement.

You must possess a PhD in Mechatronics or a supporting discipline and have an outstanding academic record as attested by distinguished publications and success in attracting competitive grants.
