The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for transforming the traditionally labor-intensive golf club assembly process into a safe, efficient, semi-automated or automated manufacturing process. Incumbent will be expected to improve yields associated with existing processes through continuous improvement efforts and/or step change improvements that are targeted at our highest opportunity areas. This engineer will also address process-related yield, machine uptime and support Process Engineering and Facilities in “line down” issues in a timely manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Process Improvement - * Make data-driven decisions to identify greatest opportunities (cost, quality, cycle time) for process improvements. Adhere to the Six Sigma DMAIC process methodology to define, measure, analyze, improve and control “common cause” manufacturing and/or machine or tooling related issues. * Assist in the identification of new materials, methods, machines and tools in order to improve current processes and/or equipment. * Designs and plans layout for club assembly, and materials handling. * Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions. * Working with Process Engineering, designs sequence of cell operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance. May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan. * Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality. * Provides guidance to Process Engineering, Production and Facilities regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques. Day-to-day support - *Follow a standardized problem-solving methodology and document results accordingly. *Support Manufacturing by troubleshooting the manufacturing processes/equipment and take appropriate corrective action steps on an as-needed basis. * evelop, maintain, and update manufacturing procedural documentation with input from appropriate functions. *Assist Manufacturing in the training of operators, technicians, and supervisors as needed. *Work with Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) as needed to ensure that equipment and processes comply with applicable codes and regulations. *Oversees the installation, modification, upgrade and maintenance of manufacturing equipment. *Studies equipment performance and reliability. *Establishes programs and solutions for increasing uptime and for equipment problems that affect the manufacturing process. *Provides technical support to the manufacturing equipment repair and process engineering organizations. Helps define preventative maintenance schedules. *Any other duties as defined by the management team. Capital Projects *Evaluates, selects and orders equipment that is most appropriate and cost effective for the manufacture of company products. *Provide input as to the process control requirements for new capital equipment. *Provide technical support during the commissioning and debugging of new equipment. *Work with maintenance and Manufacturing to define appropriate spare parts inventories and preventive maintenance schedules.
