Department of Mechanical Engineering
Tenure-Track Faculty Positions

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology is inviting applications for tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant Professor rank starting Fall 2010. Higher ranks may be considered only for truly meritorious cases. Applicants should have a PhD degree in mechanical engineering or related fields, with expertise in Thermal/Fluids Sciences. Preference, however, will be given to those with expertise in the following research areas:

(1) Renewable Energy
(2) Transport in Energy Systems
(3) Computational Thermal/Fluids Engineering

The successful candidates are expected to develop strong, independent and innovative research programs and to teach mechanical engineering courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Salary is highly competitive and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Generous fringe benefits will be provided. Initial appointment will normally be on a three-year contract, renewable subject to mutual agreement. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
